It’s a fun tradition for many families, but, as Nicole jokingly pointed out, it’s also a lot of extra work for parents, particularly when it comes to keeping up with the elf’s daily relocation.

Is this really necessary?” she wondered in her Instagram story, voicing a concern many parents have. After all, they have two young boys—Tex, age 2, and Beau, just 16 months old—and it’s likely that an extra elf for each of them will only add to the holiday chaos.

As if that wasn’t enough, Nicole shared a reel from another mom who detailed the extreme lengths she went to in order to capture footage of the elf moving around on her home security camera. The mom’s husband questioned, “At what point are we doing too much? When does it end?” Nicole jokingly added, “About to be [Luke Combs].” It seems she’s bracing herself for a little bit of skepticism from Luke once he sees just how much effort goes into this holiday tradition.

Luke, who recently released his album Fathers & Sons in 2024, has been openly sharing his joy about fatherhood in his music.
