Luke Combs, a powerhouse in country music, isn’t just setting the bar for his own career; he’s pushing fellow artists like Riley Green to elevate their touring game as well. Green, a seasoned performer in his own right, has been grinding on the road for years, earning fans the old-fashioned way—one show at a time. But even after all these years, he’s still learning and growing as an artist.
Green credits his time touring with Combs in 2023 for sharpening his skills, particularly when it comes to performing on bigger stages. “When you do a stadium tour, it’s a little different than clubs or arenas or amphitheaters,” Green shared with Taste of Country. As an opening act on Combs’ 2023 World Tour, Green quickly realized that performing in massive stadiums required a different approach, one that pushed him to evolve his live shows. He noted, “I learned a lot from that tour. And all the artists I’ve been fortunate enough to go out with. I learn something from all of them.”
But the learning doesn’t stop once the tour ends. Green’s upcoming Ain’t My Last Rodeo Tour, which kicks off in February 2024, promises to offer even more opportunities for growth. He’s particularly excited to be sharing the stage with ‘90s country legend Tracy Lawrence, whose enduring career Green admires deeply. “You can’t help but learn something from somebody like that, who’s had a career for that long,” he said. Along with Tracy, up-and-coming artist Ella Langley will also join the tour, giving Green the chance to engage with fresh talent and new sounds.
With Combs’ influence, Green’s approach to touring is ever-evolving, and it’s clear that this artist is not only dedicated to his own growth but is eager to share the stage with others who can help him level up. So, as Green gets ready for the Ain’t My Last Rodeo Tour, it’s safe to say that his live show will be packed with lessons learned, and a lot of new experiences to look forward to for both him and his fans.
