As November rolls on, marking a year since Loki Season 2 premiered on Disney+, fans of the beloved God of Mischief have been eagerly wondering: will there be a Season 3? Tom Hiddleston’s portrayal of Loki has been nothing short of iconic, turning the once mischievous anti-hero into a beloved, complex figure. After two seasons of time-bending adventures, it’s no surprise that fans are clamoring for more. Yet, despite rumors circulating about a potential third season, there’s been little concrete news—until now.
Marvel Studios’ Head of Streaming, Brad Winderbaum, has recently sparked new hope for those dreaming of Loki Season 3. Speaking at D23 Brazil 2024, Winderbaum offered a tantalizing update when asked about the future of the show. While he remained cautious in his response, he still gave fans a reason to believe. “There’s always a chance,” Winderbaum said, leaving the door open for the return of Loki and his adventures in the Multiverse.
The Loki series has been one of the most positively reviewed shows within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, thanks to its unique narrative and strong performances. Season 2 saw Loki step into a much larger role as the God of Time, grappling with the complex issues of fate, free will, and the consequences of his actions across the multiverse. With its intricate plot and evolving character arcs, many fans felt it marked a pivotal moment for the MCU, and naturally, they’re eager for what comes next.
However, the road ahead for Loki and the broader MCU is complicated. With the departure of Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror, many speculated that the multiverse storyline might take a significant turn. While Winderbaum didn’t provide any specifics, the absence of Kang and the shifting MCU narrative leaves the future of the show uncertain. But the possibilities are still endless. After all, Loki—now the God of Time—could have a grander role to play in the expanding MCU.
Winderbaum also touched on the overall development and release schedule for future MCU shows, hinting that the frequency of releases could vary. “I think it’s going to be variable,” he explained. “We’re going to aim at two [releases per year]; it might be two and a half, it might be one some years. We have a long development process now, so we’re only going into production on projects we really believe in.”
With the ongoing success of Loki and the love fans have for the character, it seems there’s still hope that the God of Mischief will return for more time-bending adventures. If Season 3 does happen, it could explore even more uncharted territory in the MCU, with Loki’s journey continuing to unfold in exciting, unexpected ways.
For now, fans will have to wait and watch as Marvel Studios decides the next steps in the MCU’s ever-expanding universe. But if Winderbaum’s words are any indication, there’s still a strong chance that Loki’s journey is far from over. So keep your fingers crossed, Loki fans—Season 3 may just be closer than you think!
