In a recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live on September 17, 65-year-old actor George Clooney shared an amusing story about a prank he pulled on fellow Hollywood star Tom Cruise. Known for his love of practical jokes, Clooney revealed a long-standing habit of sending fake letters to his celebrity friends, posing as other famous figures, including former U.S. president Bill Clinton and fellow actor Brad Pitt.

During the show, Clooney recounted his days of mischief, explaining, “Every actor I know, I’ve sent a letter from Bill Clinton.” He added that he even gave talk show host Jimmy Kimmel a fake Clinton letter as a gift, complete with counterfeit stationery. But Clooney didn’t stop there. His pranks involved picking out his friends’ least successful films and pretending to compliment them on it.

Clooney’s creativity hit a high point when he targeted Tom Cruise. Reflecting on the prank, he said, “I sent [a letter] to Don Cheadle, I sent it to Tom Cruise, saying they want to do Interview with the Vampire 2, but this time Brad [Pitt] wants to play Lestat.” For context, Cruise and Pitt co-starred in the 1994 hit Interview with the Vampire, where they portrayed vampires Louis and Lestat, two immortal beings navigating life in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Clooney also sent a hilariously brutal prank to Meryl Streep, along with a box of CDs designed to help her with accents. “I said, ‘This guy helped me with my accent in Troy, and I think it could really help you,'” he joked.

The prank didn’t stop with Clooney. Brad Pitt apparently got dragged into the joke. Kimmel added that Pitt had mentioned an unusual phone call from Cruise. According to Pitt, Cruise called him and nonchalantly said, “Yeah, it’s cool, you can play Lestat, that’s fine, I’m okay with that.” Pitt, confused, responded, “What are you talking about?”

The story reveals Clooney’s penchant for pranking his A-list friends, proving once again that he’s not just a Hollywood legend but also a master of practical jokes.
