Tom Hiddleston gave a heartfelt shout-out to his fiancée, Zawe Ashton, at the 2024 People’s Choice Awards. The Loki star, while accepting the award for the year’s best sci-fi/fantasy show for the Disney+ series, took a moment to recognize Ashton, 39, in his speech.
“Zawe, none of this makes sense without you,” Hiddleston, 43, expressed sincerely. “Thank you for your love and support every step of the way.”
Ashton, who recently portrayed a villain in last year’s Marvel film The Marvels, began dating Hiddleston after they co-starred in the revival of Harold Pinter’s play Betrayal in March 2019. Their chemistry both on and off the stage soon sparked romance rumors, which were confirmed later that year. The couple has since been inseparable.
In March 2022, PEOPLE confirmed that Hiddleston and Ashton were engaged, nearly three years after their initial meeting. The couple welcomed their first baby together in October 2022, following Ashton’s pregnancy announcement in June of that year, as reported by Vogue.
Reflecting on their journey, a source close to the Betrayal production previously told PEOPLE that Hiddleston and Ashton had a “lovely chemistry” during their time on stage together, hinting at the deep connection that blossomed into a lasting relationship.
During his acceptance speech on Sunday night, Hiddleston expressed his gratitude to his fans and collaborators. “Thank you so much, I am so grateful for this great honor. It is such a privilege to receive this People’s Choice Award from you, the audience, the people for whom we make this work and who allow us to do what we do. I’m so proud of season 2 of Loki as a performer and a producer,” he stated.
Hiddleston has reprised his iconic Marvel Cinematic Universe role as Loki for the Disney+ series, which spun off from his character’s appearance in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. His journey with Loki began as a villain in 2011’s Thor, opposite Chris Hemsworth’s titular character. Over the years, Hiddleston’s portrayal of Loki has evolved, garnering a passionate fanbase.
“I have played Loki for 14 years, and the journey has meant the world to me,” he shared with Marvel fans. “I couldn’t have done it without you; your passion, your curiosity, and your love for Loki is the reason I’m standing here.”
The touching recognition of Ashton by Hiddleston underscores not only his professional achievements but also the profound personal support that has accompanied him on his journey. As he continues to enchant audiences with his performances, it’s clear that his partnership with Ashton plays an integral role in his life and work.
