Travis Kelce, the renowned Kansas City Chiefs tight end, has made it clear that his days of reality TV are behind him. In a recent interview, Kelce revealed that he declined an opportunity to participate in Netflix’s docuseries Receiver, stating he prefers to stay focused on football and other ventures.
Kelce discussed his decision during an appearance on the Bussin’ with the Boys podcast, shared on YouTube on June 24. When asked if he had been approached to star in Receiver, the follow-up to Netflix’s 2023 hit Quarterback featuring Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins, and Marcus Mariota, Kelce confirmed he had received an offer. However, his response was firm and straightforward: “After Pat did it, I did get asked about it. I don’t know. I’d rather just play ball, man. I’m already doing enough with the podcast and everything. I’m way over the reality sh**. I’m out on that sh**.”
Despite his disinterest in joining another reality series, Kelce acknowledged his brother, Jason Kelce, and his Prime Video docuseries Kelce, which documented Jason’s career’s twilight and his personal and professional battles. “I think he did it the right way,” Kelce commented. “But that was so him and I just don’t know if I have the desire to do anything like that. I’d rather just focus on ball, baby.”
Travis Kelce is no stranger to reality TV. He once opened up his love life to the public on the short-lived reality dating competition Catching Kelce, which aired on E! in 2016. However, his recent remarks indicate a clear shift away from that genre.
Kelce’s career off the field remains dynamic and multifaceted. He is set to host Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? for Amazon’s Prime Video and is poised to make his acting debut in the TV series Grotesquerie. Describing the FX series as a “mystery-horror,” Kelce expressed his enthusiasm about exploring the acting world: “I’m excited to dive into the acting world a little bit.”
In summary, while Kelce is stepping away from reality television, he continues to expand his horizons with new projects that allow him to grow outside of his football career. His focus remains steadfast on the sport he loves, but his foray into hosting and acting showcases his versatility and willingness to take on new challenges.
