In a candid revelation, the 44-year-old singer Pink has drawn a poignant comparison between her recent surgery recovery and the miraculous experience of giving birth. Following a double disc replacement in her neck, a procedure that came after hip surgery in November 2021, the “Perfect” hitmaker reflected on the profound changes her body has undergone.
In an interview with ‘Entertainment Tonight’, Pink opened up about her journey of resilience and recovery. “It’s wild to watch your body perform a miracle and then gain your resilience back,” she said. “It makes your body weak for a time, but it makes the rest of you stronger… And just like an injury, it’s how you put yourself back together afterwards. That is the most important lesson of all of it.”
She emphasized the importance of understanding and nurturing one’s body, especially as it ages. “I think when you’re 20, you just bounce [back] really well. Well, you don’t bounce as well at 43. But you get smarter and you know your body. I know my body and I know how it’s gonna feel after any given thing,” she added.
Despite the constant pain she endures post-surgery, Pink finds empowerment in her new strength. With a touch of humor, she remarked, “I’m the bionic woman now. I am stronger than I’ve ever been in my life. And also, I hurt all the time… But I can do more pushups than anybody!”
The lockdown period had a mixed impact on the singer. While it provided a much-needed break for her voice, it also led to physical inactivity. “Especially during COVID — I gained 36 lbs. All I did was make sourdough and then eat the sourdough. And then I had not just the hip surgery but double disc replacement in my neck,” Pink explained.
Now, as she prepares for her upcoming world tour in support of her ninth studio album ‘Trustfall’, Pink feels rejuvenated and ready to perform. She shared, “I’ve lost those 36 pounds, and I am stronger than I’ve ever been in my life. And I’m ready to go, and I’m ready to get the hell out of here. I’ve been home way too long.”
Pink’s story is one of resilience, strength, and the unwavering spirit to overcome challenges. Her journey through surgery recovery, much like giving birth, stands as a testament to the incredible capabilities of the human body and spirit. As she embarks on her tour, fans can look forward to seeing a stronger, more empowered Pink take the stage.
