Céline Dion Slams AI Fake Songs: “Not Approved, Not Me!”

Céline Dion is once again taking a strong stand against the unauthorized use of her music—this time, calling out AI-generated songs that are falsely attributed to her. In a direct statement shared on her Instagram on March 7, the iconic singer addressed fans and the public, making it clear that these digital recreations are far from her original work.

“It has come to our attention,” the statement began, “that unsanctioned, AI-generated music purporting to contain Céline Dion’s musical performances, and name and likeness, is currently circulating online and across various Digital Service Providers.” Dion’s message, both firm and urgent, continued: “Please be advised that these recordings are fake and not approved, and are not songs from her official discography.”

This is not the first time Dion has felt the need to protect the integrity of her music. Back in August, she responded to the unauthorized use of her song My Heart Will Go On by former U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump, a move that led to another statement from her management team and Sony Music Entertainment Canada. The post emphasized that Dion did not authorize, nor endorse, the use of her music for political purposes, with the singer herself humorously quipping, “…And really, THAT song?”

Dion, whose latest original music was released in 2023 for the film Love Again and her companion album for the 2024 documentary I Am: Céline Dion, has been a powerful force in the music industry for decades. However, since revealing her diagnosis of Stiff-Person Syndrome in 2022, new releases from the 56-year-old have been rare. Despite this, Dion made a powerful return to the stage during the 2024 Paris Olympics, singing Hymne à l’amour live from the Eiffel Tower. Her performance was met with an outpouring of admiration as she celebrated the athletes and their perseverance.

Dion’s message about AI-generated music also highlights a growing concern among artists as technology continues to push the boundaries of creativity. While AI offers new opportunities for music production, it also opens the door to exploitation, with unauthorized use of an artist’s voice and likeness becoming an increasing threat. Dion’s decision to speak out is a reminder of the importance of respecting artists’ intellectual property and their right to control their own creations.

For now, Dion’s fans can rest assured that any music circulating under her name that isn’t approved by her management is nothing more than a digital imitation. Dion continues to hold her artistry close and, with the recent release of her documentary, has made it clear that her legacy is not something she will let be tampered with.

With her music, her family, and her loyal supporters, Céline Dion’s heart continues to go on—on her own terms.
