Kelly Clarkson, the multi-talented singer and beloved host of ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show,’ is embracing her new life post-divorce with a sense of happiness and no regrets. The star, who filed for divorce from Brandon Blackstock in June 2020 after seven years of marriage, has been through a tumultuous few years but is now finding her stride and joy in the next chapter of her life.

Clarkson and Blackstock share two children: River Rose, nine, and Remington Alexander, seven. Despite their split, which was officially settled in March 2022 following two years of legal battles, the pair has continued to face off in court over various issues. However, sources close to Clarkson reveal that she is staying positive and is thriving despite the challenges.

“She is doing really well. She is happy that she left LA for New York,” a source told People. Clarkson’s move to New York has been a significant step in her journey to reclaim her happiness and build a new life for herself and her children. With primary custody of River and Remington, Clarkson is described as a “great mom” who is deeply devoted to her kids. The insider added, “Even though Kelly loves working, the children are her world, and she’s a very hands-on and fun mum.”

The financial aspects of the divorce were notable, with Clarkson being ordered to give her ex a one-time payment of $1.3 million, plus $150,000 per month in spousal support and $45,601 a month in child maintenance. Yet, despite these financial obligations, Clarkson has continued to move forward with strength and resilience.

Recently, Clarkson filed a lawsuit against Brandon and his father Narvel Blackstock’s management company, Starstruck Entertainment. She accused them of violating California labor laws by acting as an unlicensed talent agency, booking business deals on her behalf since 2007. This legal action underscores Clarkson’s determination to address past wrongs and ensure fair treatment.

Clarkson has openly shared her struggles during the divorce process. In an emotional interview with DJ Zane Lowe on Apple Music, she confessed, “I did not handle (the divorce) well.” She recounted the difficulty of maintaining a brave face while grappling with intense emotions behind closed doors. “I don’t know how people get through anything like that because I’m not going to say I did it gracefully. Behind closed doors by myself, it was not,” she revealed, describing moments of intense crying where she “couldn’t even speak.”

Reflecting on her marriage, Clarkson admitted she stayed in the relationship longer than she should have, driven by a fear of failure and a belief in her own resilience. Speaking on the ‘We Can Do Hard Things’ podcast, she explained, “I’m like, ‘I can do this. I can handle so much. I can control my actions. I can control my reactions. I can do this and I can reach this person and I can get through.’ And it becomes a little bit of your ego that gets in the way.”

Now, with those challenging times behind her, Kelly Clarkson is looking ahead with optimism. Her focus remains on her children and her career, but most importantly, on her own happiness. As she continues to navigate life post-divorce, Clarkson stands as a testament to resilience and the pursuit of joy, reminding us all that it’s possible to emerge from hardship stronger and happier.
