Dakota Johnson’s Only Request to Mom Melanie Griffith After Securing ‘Fifty Shades’ Role

During an interview with “omg! Insider” correspondent Keltie Knight at The Best in Drag Show benefiting Aid for AIDS on Sunday, Melanie Griffith opened up about Dakota’s new role and how she’s handling the pressure. Contrary to what one might expect, Dakota is not nervous at all about taking on such a high-profile character.
“She is not the type to get scared,” Griffith told “omg! Insider” on the red carpet. “She has never been that way. When she was two she was not scared. So, she knows what she’s doing and she’s really clear and really happy, and it’s just — it’s a joy to see her [right now].”
Given the immense popularity of “Fifty Shades of Grey,” Dakota’s portrayal of Anastasia Steele is expected to catapult her into mainstream success. While she has previously taken on supporting roles in films like “21 Jump Street” and starred in the short-lived TV show “Ben and Kate,” Dakota has yet to become a household name. However, with her breakout role just around the corner, it seems inevitable that she will soon be a tabloid fixture. Despite this impending notoriety, Dakota has only one request for her mother.
“The only thing she said was, ‘Please just make me do the dishes when I go home. I want everything to stay really normal,'” Melanie revealed. “I mean, she’s really got her head on her shoulders. It’s really nice.”
When asked if she had seen Dakota start practicing for her role, Melanie laughed off the suggestion.
“No, no. She’s very mysterious,” Griffith replied. “It’s not like that’s something she would do.”
