Alisan Porter’s victory in the tenth season of The Voice was a triumphant moment, not only for her but also for those who supported her along the way. Among these supporters was her coach, Christina Aguilera, as well as her family and friends. One friend, in particular, stood out for his unwavering support and invaluable advice: Adam Lambert.

After the finale on Tuesday, Porter spoke to reporters about the significant role Lambert played throughout her journey on The Voice. “Oh my God, Adam – I think we talked every single day throughout this process and from beginning to end, with song choices, with outfits – he’s so particular,” she shared. “He’s like, ‘Your makeup tonight was perfect except for this.’ And I’m like, ‘Okay, well Adam said…’”

Having gone through a similar experience on the eighth season of American Idol, Lambert knew exactly what Porter needed to stay grounded and confident. “We bicker a lot because he’s like, ‘You need to sing a current song!’ and I’m like, ‘No, I don’t,’” she joked. Despite their playful disagreements, Lambert’s support was steadfast. “He’s just so supportive and wonderful. He’s always, always supported me, always wanted me to continue trying to do this work, so I think just having him as a role model, seeing what he’s been able to do and knowing that he wanted the same for me.”

Their friendship is not a recent development. Porter reminisced about the time she supported Lambert during his American Idol journey in 2009. “I was there when he was doing Idol… picking songs, sitting at the cafés, what should you sing. It was so crazy to have him be able to do the same thing for me,” she said.

Lambert, who is now touring the world and fronting Queen, took the time to check in on Porter regularly. “He’s touring the world himself and fronting Queen, so for him to be taking time to call me and see how I’m doing and ‘How’s your spirit? How’s your body? How’s your soul?’ Those are the things that true friends really care about through all of this because you really can get trampled if you’re not prepared for what this work was,” Porter noted.

As Porter looks ahead, she is thrilled to move past being recognized solely as the former Curly Sue actress and is excited about her future endeavors. With friends like Lambert by her side, her journey promises to be filled with unwavering support and shared triumphs.
